MOSS CABIN "THE BUNKER"
If it weren't so modest, this discreet mountain-top workshop would definitely be the boasting type. Designed to be strong, resilient, sustainable, and built in stages over multiple years, this little bunker is more than meets the eye. Exhaustive sun and shading studies determined ideal window placement and shading overhangs for its photographer owner. Security concerns led to the incorporation of perforated steel window covers and a roll-down gate over the garage-style front door. Resiliency planning helped with the decision to use ICF construction from top to bottom. A heavily-insulated envelope and great windows allow the entire interior volume to be efficiently heated by a single pellet-burning stove. Smart, minimal interior build-outs give the
owner as much space as possible to keep on creating.
